Welcome to March!  Although it didn't look or feel like it with snow Friday morn, we are inching closer to spring.  Don't know about you, but I'm mentally done with winter.  We were so freakin' spoiled the last 2 Februarys that we forgot what a real winter is like. Well, just like politics in Washington, I'm sick of it all.  Here's some ideas to take your mind off of our crappy weather this wknd:

>> think new!  As in new car as the Auto Show rolls into the Convention Center downtown.  Don't you love the smell of a new car?  Check out the wheels and take in the scents as we gear up for summer driving around the Finger Lakes.

>> think spring!  The Orchid Show blossoms at Sonnenberg Gardens in Canadaigua this wknd.

>> think new job!  Must be getting close to spring as the Red Wings are hiring for the upcoming baseball season.  The Wings will host a job fair at Frontier Field Sat. from 10a-2p.  Trust me, there are not two better people to work for in this town than GM Dan Mason and CEO Naomi Silver in the Red Wings front office.

>> shoot to thrill!  As AC/DC sang in the classic rock tune, guns are on everyone's minds lately and you can check out the latest for your outdoorsman at the Rochester Sportsmans Expo Fri. and Sat. at the Rochester Tech Park on Elmgrove Rd. (formerly known as Kodak Elmgrove, remember that?)

>> strike one out for a great cause!  I'll be hosting the bowling fundraiser Sat. afternoon at Clover Lanes on Monroe Ave. for the Huntington Disease Society.  Registration begins at 1p.  There's plenty of cool prizes, beverages and free hot pizza.

>> hit the hoop!  It's Championship wknd. locally for Section 5 basketball.  Two of the bigger games this wknd. feature the Gates-Chili undefeated girls in a sectional rematch against Penfield Fri. night at Roberts Wesleyan College, while the Webster Schroeder boys take on Bishop Kearney on Sun. afternoon at the Blue Cross Arena.

>> don't forget those who have worse weather than us!  God bless our troops, scattered across the globe.
