This wknd. seems to be the time for holiday parties. With time dwindling for Christmas shopping and Hannukah winding down, here comes the wknd. to soak up the holiday cheer before the stress of last minute shopping/travelling/family arriving and the real hustle and bustle of the holidays hits next week. Here's an interesting event coming to the East End downtown Sat. night. It's SantaCon! A "convention of Santa Claus". I'm guessing the real guy is kind of busy right now but a huge collection of his surrogates dressed in Santa attire will gather Sat. night at 7p at the Liberty Pole and then head down East Ave, eventually ending up at East and Alexander amongst the barhoppers. This should be quite a holiday scene to behold. I stumbled upon a similar event in downtown Buffalo a few years ago in their equivalent to our East End on W. Chippewa St. My lasting recollection of that night was 4 "Santas" in handcuffs surrounded by the Buffalo Police Dept. after a bar brawl. So, you better watch out, you better not bend 'cuz Santa Claus is comin' to the East End!
I will partake in a slightly more subdued form of holiday fun at the MCC Sports Centre Sun. afternoon. I'll be the MC as Premier Skating Academy presents "Let it Snow" on ice to benefit Wease Cares. There will be special skating performances by the Rochester Amerks and Amerks Alumni. Tickets can be purchased at the front desk at The Sports Centre at MCC for $5. For more info contact Melissa @ PremierSkatingAcademy@gmail.com, facebook.com/premierskatingacademy or call 424.GOAL (4625). Hope Santa survives to make it to MCC and enjoy a safe holiday party wknd.
