Remember Jean Claude Brizard? He is the former very controversial Superintendant of the Rochester City School District. After ticking off many teachers by laying them off and messing with their classrooms, he abruptly left the RCSD 17 months ago to take over the schools in Chicago. That didn't turn out to be such a wise move as JCB has been let go by the Chicago Mayor after the disasterous teachers strike this fall. Here's some ideas for the former big shot to take in if he happens to be spending his unexpected off time here this wknd.
>> VerHulst Haunted Hayrides continue on Ridge Rd. in Spencerport as it's time to pick your pumpkin this wknd. If you don't want to scare the kids too much, bring 'em out Sun. afternoon to hang with JP from noon-2 for family fun. Or take in the Fall Festival at the Garden Factory on Buffalo Rd. in Gates. The kids will dig the light show.
>> Horses take centerstage at the Genesee Valley Hunt on Lima Rd. in Geneseo starting Sat. @ 10am. The tailgate parties are nearly as awesome as the beauty of the horses.
>> If you want to check out some tough ladies on skates, take in the Roc City Roller Derby Oktoberfest at the Dome Arena in Henrietta Sat. night @ 6p. The Dome will be closing soon and maybe the ladies will tear the place up.
>> If you want more refined fun, take in Casa Larga Vineyard's Meritage wine Harvest Festival Sat. and Sun. @ 1:30 and 3:30 for wine tastings. The festival runs daily through the wknd. from 10a-6p at 2287 Turk Hill Rd. in Perinton. If you see Jean Claude, buy him a glass of wine. He's gonna need it.
