Beer drinkers, rejoice — and drink up! A new study has found that the beer belly is a myth. At least, this is potentially less-than-objective finding of nutritionist Kathryn O'Sullivan, who, at the behest of the British beer industry, looked into whether chugging beer makes you fat. Her findings? Far from being the high-calorie, high-fat libation it’s often thought to be, beer has fewer calories per 100 milliliters (about 3.38 ounces) than wine, spirits and even orange juice. O'Sullivan said that quaffing large quantities would cause weight gain, but so would downing lots of wine. She also argued that drunk in moderation, beer has similar benefits to wine. Beer: It does a body good.
