A man who won £1million on the National Lottery over Christmas has revealed his plan to open a music venue with his winnings.
Andrew Garth, who lives in Middlesbrough and works as a freelance light and sound events technician, became a millionaire on Christmas Day after winning the money on the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle. Garth discovered his win on Boxing Day, which was also the day he turned 29.
Speaking about his win and his plan to open a new music venue in the north east, Garth said: "It was crazy. I kept getting waves of excitement then disbelief. I must have checked the ticket at least five times before my friends came to find me. They thought I was playing a prank on them. I love live music but sadly Middlesbrough doesn't offer the kind of taste that I like."
The music fan has already been scoping out potential locations for his new venture. "I already have my eyes on a few places to buy, possibly near Teesside Park," he said.
Garth, who told the BBC that he is a fan of dubstep music, also intends to pay off his parents' mortgage and pay for a trip to Australia with his winnings.
