Mumford and Sons have revealed that they have already begun working on new songs.

The band released their second album Babel in September and it went straight to Number One in the UK and US. On Wednesday, Babel was nominated for the prestigious Album Of The Year prize at the 2013 Grammy Awards.

However, the band have no intention of resting on their laurels. Banjo player Winston Marshall told NME: "Will we wait years for the next album? F***, no. You heard it here first. We've just started working on new songs, got a rehearsal studio. They're bones of songs, but really exciting bones. Sturdy bones."

This summer, Mumford and Sons moved into the festival market with a series of one-day events at hand-picked locations all over the world. Marshall confirmed that the band plan to continue this sideline next year, saying: "We're gonna do more Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover festivals in 2013."

Mumford and Sons are currently on the second leg of their 'Tour Of Two Halves' across the UK and Ireland. The jaunt began with a series of intimate theatre gigs in late November, before the band moved onto larger arena shows earlier this month. The tour concludes with a sold-out date at London's O2 Arena on December 18.
